More than twenty producers, engineers and consultants participated in the guided visit to the experimental vineyards in Cormons and Neblo organized on the 26th July 2013 as part of the Interregional EU project VISO.

In the morning, the agronomist Giovanni Bigot of the Bigot & Bigot Studio Associate (PP3 - project partner) presented the results that had been obtained by using different strategies for parasitic control against late blight on the Merlot grape variety. These strategies were obtained by using different cupric formulations with resistance inductors and natural products.

During the visit of vineyards in Cormons, the guests had the opportunity to observe the levels of incidence and severity of the disease on leaves and grapes in the different experimental plots, and at the same time to see the levels of protection obtained with the different products in the period of time and season when the disease is heavily spread, due to the heavy rainfall in May and June and due to the climatic conditions which are particularly favorable to the development of the pathogen.

In the afternoon, Professor Paolo Sivilotti explained the experimental tests carried out by the University of Nova Gorica (PP1 - project partner) at the winery Čarga in Kozbanjšček, next to Neblo, that is one of the wine-growing zone of Slovene Brda. The visit continued in the experimental plots of the variety Tocai, where the University of Nova Gorica has set up a test of defoliation in pre-flowering, in order to modulate the set and reduce the compactness of the grape cluster of the Tocai variety.

Professor Sivilotti then guided the visit through the experimental plots dedicated to reduce the impact of photosynthetic active light and to the modifications of the light flux spectrum, obtained with shading and photo selective nets. The results of these tests had an impact on the quality of grapes, particularly on the sugar level and on the content of precursors of aromatic compounds
